Loogootee Schools will be 1:1 with Chromebooks for the 17-18 school year.

Loogootee Schools will be 1:1 with Chromebooks for the 17-18 school year.

K-12 1:1 Information

Students in grades K-6 will each be issued a Chromebook in a cart model.  What that means is that students will have access to their own Chromebook daily but will turn it back in at the end of the day to charge overnight.  If homework is issued that requires a Chromebook, students will be allowed to check it out to take home on a very limited basis.  More information regarding this will be provided by the building principal and/or classroom teacher.  Chromebooks in the cart model are protected with a hard case.

Students in grades 7-12 will be issued a Chromebook and may take it home daily to complete school work.  Students are expected to leave their chargers at home and charge their Chromebooks nightly.  Chromebooks in the take home model are protected with a “leave in” bag.  Students are expected to keep their Chromebooks in that bag at all times.

What is a Chromebook?

Instead of Windows 10 or macOS, Chromebooks run Google's Chrome OS. These machines are designed to be used primarily while connected to the Internet (though there are some offline apps), with most applications and documents living in the cloud. More Information on Chromebooks (LINK)

Prepaid Service Plan Information

Chromebooks provided by Loogootee Community Schools are eligible for a Prepaid Service Plan. Users in grades K-6 (cart model) that have been issued a device are eligible to opt-in to this plan for $15.  Users in grades 7-12 (take home) that have been issued a device are eligible to opt-in to this plan for $20.  This includes 1 repair of accidental damage not covered by the manufactures warranty and lasts the entire school year. Coverage will be provided for the following items but are not limited to:

  • Drops resulting in broken internal parts

  • Cracked Screens

  • Accidental Damage

The plan goes into effect the day payment is received and the Chromebook and all accessories are inspected.

Items not covered by the Prepaid Service Plan:

  • Chromebook chargers and cases.

  • Instances of overt, intentional, and/or malicious damage.  Determination will be made by the tech staff and administration.

  • Theft/Loss.

The Prepaid Service plan may not be used for retroactive damage/repair.  The student Chromebook must remain in corporation-issued case or service plan will be void and the parent/guardian will be responsible for the full cost of repair/replacement of device.
