Ms. Walker became a teacher because her brother is deaf, and they always had a special bond. She went to school at Loogootee and lived here. She thinks that Loogootee schools are awesome. She attended college at Ball State University and Indiana University. She has been teaching at Loogootee for 20 years, 30 years total. Her favorite part about teaching is when the lightbulb goes on in a student’s brain. When two of her students were the first deaf students to graduate from West Washington HS was her most memorable moment of teaching. She can teach K-12, and she has taught all grades. 5th/6th is her favorite. If she could teach anywhere she would teach here because she says that it’s like being with your family at work. Her sister Betts who passed away when she was just 46, influenced her the most in her life. She enjoys exercising, and spending time with kids and her grandchild. She also enjoys riding motorcycles. She likes spending time with her parents and family. She says that she is blessed to have many great friends she loves to spend time with.
