Mr. Woodard's POE and CIM classes, along with Mrs. Sutton's geometry class, worked side by side with volunteer engineers from Stimulus Engineering, Indiana University, and Direct Employers on a very meaningful project. The class members were put into one of two groups; detect/analyze and deter. In this project the students developed their own ideas to detect an intruder about to enter a hospital. They analyzed the speed of the intruder, and developed a technique using robots to deter the intruder. This project taught many meaningful lessons such as public speaking, collaboration, data collection, computer programming, engineering techniques, and many more. They were able to brainstorm, try techniques, and revise their programs as many times as needed to perfect their engineered products. This project gave students the opportunity to take their own ideas and run. Today, all three classes came together to run their programs to see if they all worked properly. All groups were victorious and represented Loogootee well.
