Due to the extreme weather conditions in many parts of Indiana, the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) has updated the Instructional Day Waiver Policy for the remainder of the 2017-2018 school year.
School corporations are expected to make up the first five canceled days using their pre-planned make-up days. After the fifth canceled day, the IDOE will waive one day for every two additional canceled days. After the fifth canceled day, school corporations will receive waivers for odd numbered cancellations, e.g., canceled days 7, 9, 11, etc.
Loogootee Community Schools has missed 7 school days due to inclement weather:
- 5 of those days are being made up on "built in days" on the school calendar ... Feb 19, April 27, April 30, May 24, May 25.
- A 6th day was made up on Feb 17 with an eLearning Day.
For the 7th day, the Indiana Department of Education has now granted Loogootee Schools a "Waiver Day" so we will not have to make up the 7th day. If additional school days are missed, Loogootee schools would look to add additional eLearning Days, make up days after Memorial Day, and/or apply for an additional waiver.
