Welcome to Loogootee Middle School Grade 6, and thank you for visiting my webpage! I would like to encourage you to contact me at anytime if you or your child have a concern, are having difficulty with class subjects, or social problems. I can be reached at school by calling 295-2409 ext. 314 before school, during special class 11:35-12:10, or after-school until 3:30. You may always leave a message, and I will get back with you as soon as possible. I can also be reached by email, email@example.com. I do check my voicemail and email daily, and will get back with you. I want to keep the communication line open, as I may not be aware of a situation unless it is brought to my attention. Please make me your first contact with any and all concerns.
The middle school rules can be found in our handbook. Most of our school policies are explained, and the most frequently asked questions are probably going to be answered in this. I follow all rules of the student handbook. If you have questions about any rules in the handbook, feel free to call and talk to me.
If students make proper use of their time at school, they will find they are able to complete all assigned work during the school day. I encourage my students to use their time wisely. Daily independent work is a vital part of assessing student progress, and enables me to adjust lesson plans and teaching methods to better educate my students. Independent work and quizzes count as 40% of their grade, with tests counting for 60%.
As sixth-graders, students are expected to fill out assignment books daily, with minimal teacher supervision. Unless requested, or deemed necessary, I will not require assignment books to be signed by a parent/guardian.
Students will be able to enter the school building between 7:45-8:05 A.M. If students are not in the classroom at 8:05, they will be marked tardy. If they arrive before 7:45, the only door that will be unlocked will be the main entrance to the high school lobby. It will be opened at 7:30, which is when breakfast begins being served.
We will have three classroom parties held during the year. They are as follows: Fall, Christmas, and Valentine's Day. Each student will be asked to help plan and bring healthy refreshments for one party. I do allow my students to bring a bottle of water to school everyday. We will also celebrate birthdays once a month. Your child will be allowed to bring in a store bought treat on the designated day.
All lunch and breakfast money needs to be turned into the office. Students are assigned a number in which money can be deposited into their account to pay for their meals. You may check your child’s balance by accessing Family Access.
Thank you for taking time from your busy schedule to read this. Words cannot express how excited I am to be a part of your child’s learning. Please remember to keep in contact. I do appreciate your input.
Yours in education,
Mrs. Nikki Wagoner
