LES Announces New Traffic Pattern for After Spring Break

Beginning April 1, 2019, the entrance for the elementary will be changing due to the building remodel project that will be starting over Spring Break.  In order for the project to be completed by August and to not disrupt the academic areas, the main office and cafeteria area renovation will be starting after spring break.  Because of this, the front entrance of the school will be blocked off, and the main entrance for the elementary will be Door B (the east door near the cafeteria). Door B will be the door to use for the remainder of the school year starting April 1.

Due to the south entrance being blocked, the traffic pattern around the school will be changed for safety purposes. Costello Drive (the road that runs around the playground) will be a one-way road (North to South) from the hours of 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.   Please approach the door from Butcher Blvd and drive out Wood Street.

Car riders that are dropped off in the morning and picked up in the afternoon will use Door B (east door).   The goal is to load and unload 5-6 cars at a time. In order to do this, the first car in line will pull up to the stop sign at the corner of the building.  The first 5-6 cars will then load and unload under Mrs. Wade’s and Mrs. Smith’s supervision. Due to the construction and traffic congestion, please use the car line to load and unload your child rather than walking them to the door unless you need to talk to school staff.  For your child’s safety, please have the child exit the car on the playground side. Also, for the safety of all children, please make sure to stay in the car line and follow the flow of the traffic.

If you need to visit the building during this time, parking will be located past the brown safety barriers outside the front of the school. The main office will be located in Room 102 close to the entrance.

We appreciate your flexibility and help through the construction process.  Also, please be sure to share this information with anyone who may pick up or drop off your child. We know there may be frustrations and delays and will work to resolve them quickly.  We are keeping the end in mind and are excited about the classrooms and learning spaces that our students will be using this fall!
