Mrs. McAtee has been teaching at Loogootee for 5 years. She became a teacher because she wanted to be a role model and a leader in our community. She went to college at Vincennes University and Ball State University.
She became a teacher at Loogootee after substitute teaching for several years. The people who influenced her the most in her life are her friends and family because they encouraged her to follow her dreams.
She teaches in the sixth grade not because she chose to, but because it chose her. Her favorite part of teaching is seeing the “lightbulb” go off in her students’ minds. If she could teach anywhere, she would still decide not to.
She has had several memorable moments in her teaching career. Her favorite moment was when a student in one of her past classes came up to her after a home design project and told her that she wanted to be an architect.
For leisure, Mrs. McAtee enjoys spending time with her family, coaching volleyball, online shopping, and reading.
